The biggest surprise upset of the day came from the fresh new Japanese player, Kei Nishikori, who defeated the Frenchman J. Bennetteau 4-6 7-6 7-6 6-3. He became the first Japanese man ever to reach the 4th round in any major tennis Grand Slam tournament.
Nishikori has an opportunistic style, covering his strokes well and moving quick around his forehand and backhand. Strong win for him !
Kei has a great attitude, fresh image and presence on the court. It will be exciting to see how far he goes in this enduring and hot tournament.
Among the men, there were no other major upsets on the 6th match day in Melbourne. Djokovic, Ferrer, Gasquet and Tsonga all got fairly easily through to the 4th round. Among them, Tsonga and Djokovic
are particularly ablaze .
